Yeti HDMH Uses Big Second and Sixth Innings to Victory Over Gamecocks

by Nicholas Cipolla

Just like the heat at the time of this game, Yeti HDMH bats came out scorching hot and didn’t cool down at all.

After an offensive clinic in the first game by both teams, Yeti HDMH kept the offense rolling in game two.

The scoring outburst began in the top of the inning when Lincoln Memorial University’s Christian Amoruso stepped to the plate with bases loaded.

Amoruso had put on a show in the first game and he kept the ball rolling with an RBI single to center field to make it a 1-0 game.

The very next batter, Hofstra’s Matt Pelcher hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 game. Nick Siano followed it up hitting another ball to center field for a base hit to knock in another run making it 3-0.

The streak of balls hit to center field ended when the baton was passed to Thomas Secaira. He hit a ground ball between short and third for a single, scoring two runs in the process making the run total for Yeti HDMH five.

Stephen Harrington stepped up to the plate with two outs and was given a gift by the Gamecocks when he hit a high pop up to the center of the infield, no one called for the ball and it dropped behind the pitcher’s mound. Secaira was running with two outs and was able to score the sixth and final run of the inning for Yeti HDMH.

The Gamecocks did put some pressure on Yeti HDMH over the next few innings. Mike Medina hit a bullet right past the pitcher for a base hit cutting the lead to five.

In the fourth inning, Anthony Hernandez stepped up with the bases loaded and two outs. He waited for a pitch to hit and ended up lacing a base clearing double to left center, cutting Yeti’s lead to only two runs.

However, that was as close as the Gamecocks would get in this one.

Anthony Pericolosi stepped up in the fifth with a runner on second. He responded to Hernandez with a ground rule double of his own as he got a signature Baseball Heaven hop on a ball he crushed into the gap, allowing the runner from second to score automatically.

On the very next pitch, Stony Brook Baseball’s Derek Yalon hit a rocket to right center field that one hopped the wall. Pericolosi scored easily as Yalon made it all the way to third base, pushing the lead back up to four runs. Yalon also had a double on the day as he was a standout in today’s game.

In the top of the sixth, Yeti HDMH once again were able to load the bases. A wild pitch allowed the first run of the inning score.

Stephen Harrington was able to knock in another run, making the score 10-4. The last run of the game was scored via balk to make it 11-4.

Defensively, the pitching did it’s job. Gregory Vivenzio allowed only one run in three innings of work before passing the torch on to knuckleballer Derek Hassan. Hassan was able to settle in after allowing the base-clearing double to Hernandez in the fourth, allowing only two more runners to reach base.
