Division-I:
St. John‘s swept Butler by the scores of 9-0 and 4-0. In Game 1, Nick Mondak was lights-out. He struck out 10 over 6.0 shutout innings, allowing just three hits and one free pass. He earned his fourth win of the season. Josh Lajoie closed it out with a scoreless seventh with two punch outs. St. John’s outhit Butler, 13-3. They scored two runs in the first inning on an RBI double by Ryan Hogan and an RBI ground out by Nick Cirelli. Carson Bartels led the offense with three hits and 4 RBI. Marty Higgins had three hits as well. In Game 2, the Johnnies pitching was dynamite once again but this time they used five arms to get the shutout. Ian Murphy started and went the first 4.1 innings, Geoff Mosseau got three outs and was awarded the win. Vincent Bianchi went 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. With the victories, the Johnnies improve to 8-13 in Big East play and 17-18 overall. They will play another DH today to close out the four-game set.
Fordham lost to La Salle, 14-2, in large part to an eight-run seventh inning for La Salle. Brooks Ey was tagged with the loss for the Rams, going 5.2 IP, allowing two ER. The Rams were held to 6 hits with CJ Vazquez accounting for two of them.
Hofstra‘s losing streak moved to seven games after a 4-2 loss to Towson. John Mikolaicyk got the start and he was tagged for four runs on seven hits. Outstanding job in relief by Brad Camarda who went 5.1 shutout innings, allowing just one hit to keep his offense in the game. Hofstra cut the 4-0 deficit in half in the seventh on a solo shot by Brian Goulard but that was as close as they’d get. Aidan Larkin homered earlier in the game for the Pride. The two teams will be back in action at 11am for a DH.
LIU defeated Farleigh Dickinson by the score of 7-5. The Sharks used a six-run sixth inning to turn a 4-1 deficit into a 7-4 lead. E.J. Exposito drove in Cade Biddle with an RBI single to center to take the lead. Anthony Warneke was the solo Sharks batter to notch two hits. Josh Loeschorn earned the W. He threw six innings, allowing five ER with eight strikeouts, no walks. These two teams will play the middle game of their series today at 1pm. The Sharks are 16-12 overall and 14-10 in conference play.
Division-II:
Queens lost Game 1 of the ECC Semifinals by the score of 16-0. Their season is on the brinks and will look to stay alive today in Game 2 beginning at 12. Dylan Hughes started and was tagged with the loss, going 2.2 innings and allowing three runs. STAC did most of their damage in the fourth inning when they scored 9 runs. The Knights made four errors. They notched 9 hits.
Molloy will host Mercy today in a DH beginning at noon in the ECC Semifinals.
Adelphi will host LeMoyne tomorrow in the NE-10 Southwest Division Final tomorrow at noon and 3pm.
