Adelphi Ranked Third in Div-II East Region Poll

It seems like a lifetime ago at this point due to the pandemic, but Adelphi entered the 2020 season with high aspirations following an incredible 2019 season in which they peaked as the No. 5 ranked Division-II team in the nation.

While this is not a national ranking, they were tabbed third in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division-II East Region Preseason Poll.

Here’s the full ranking

2021 NCBWA East Region Preseason Poll
1. SNHU (Nine First-Place Votes) – 90 Points
2. Franklin Pierce – 68 Points
3. Adelphi – 67 Points
4. Le Moyne – 63 Points
5. Molloy – 47 Points
6. Wilmington (Del.) – 38 Points
7. New Haven – 32 Points
8. Stonehill – 25 Points
9. Southern Conn. St. – 22 Points
10. Felician – 19 Points

It shouldn’t be overlooked that Molloy is not far behind, at No. 5. Molloy is absolutely loaded and has a legitimate chance to win the ECC this year. Adelphi, on the other hand, appeared to have a legitimate chance to win the National Championship in 2019, but they hit a wall in the postseason losing to Southern Connecticut, Franklin Pierce and Wilmington in succession.

The schedules have not been posted yet, but it is believed the 2021 season will open up on March 6. Adelphi appears to be a strong postseason contender with their hard-throwing rotation led by Josh Rovner and lights-out closer Tom Ambrosino.
