Fall baseball is one of the hardest seasons in all of sports. You go from sweating and playing baseball in the burning hot weather, to freezing cold early morning and late night games. Having success in the fall is a whole other story. Finally here in mid-November, the fall season is coming to an end. At Brentwood State Park, the South Shore Elite took on the LI Storm in a 12u Boys of Summer Championship game!
Joe Farina got the start on the big stage for the Elite and was nothing short of electric. After surrendering a leadoff single, he struck out three batters in a row. What also helped out Joe, was his offense. He pitched with the lead from the first inning and on. Matt Monzito got it started with an RBI groundout and then scored on a passed ball.
The Elite would set a tone early which ended up lasting the entirety of the game. Big hits down the stretch from guys like Alex Aramini, Matt Kerr, Kieran Dinkleman, and Joe Farina himself, helped set that tone all throughout this game. A huge 6-run 5th inning set this team up for a potential mercy rule victory after five innings.
Up 10-1 going into the last inning, Joe Farina went out and finished what he started. Farina threw the ball very hard all game and his velocity never dipped. He finished the game with his eighth strikeout and was able to celebrate with a complete game under his belt. The South Shore Elite are champions of the 12u Boys of Summer Fall league!
