The 14u LIB Costanzo took on B1000 Seminoles (Mac) at Plainedge High School on Saturday afternoon. After the game, the LIB Costanzo’s Head Coach had this to say, “We have been getting a lot better offensively this season, the pitching kept us in the second game. Michael Duda and Michael Mollica both pitched good for us today. We had a couple of timely hits that helped us out and it was just a good double header”. When discussing the slow starts in both games the Head Coach said “All season we are a second half game kind of team. Once our top of our order sees a couple of pitches, they time the ball up better and then usually later in the game our guys wake up and figure it out”.
In Game 1 it was all LIB Costanzo. In the top of the 1st inning LIB Costanzo’s Michael Duda, Nick Anderson, Doug Davies all walked to make the bases loaded. Jack Molesky would walk to make it 1-0. John Masi would walk to make it 2-0. Justin Babiak would walk to make it 3-0. Ryan Czyz would walk to make it 4-0. Dom Pannitti hit into a fielder’s choice and makes it 5-0. In the bottom of the 1st inning B1000 Seminoles (Mac) Maddox Sierra would get a lead off single. He would move to 2nd base on a wild pitch. Nick Ranaudo hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-1. Matt Sansano hit an RBI Single to make it 5-2. In the 2nd inning no runs were scored. In the top of the 3rd inning LIB Costanzo’s Jack Molesky hit a double. Then Justin Babiak and Ryan Czyz would walk to get the bases loaded. Dom Pannitti would get on by an error by the 3rd basemen and a run would score to make it 6-2. Michael Mollica hit a 3 RBI triple to make it 9-2. Jake Stanley hit an RBI single to make it 10-2. James Kass would hit an RBI double to make it 11-2. Peyton Stanley hit an RBI single to make it 12-2. In the bottom of the 3rd inning B1000 Seminoles (Mac) would be held scoreless. In the top of the 4th inning LIB Costanzo’s Jack Molesky would lead off with a single. Justin Babiak also singled. Ryan Czyz would walk to load the bases up. Dom Pannitti would hit a 2 RBI single that would make it 14-2 and that would end the game due to the mercy rule.
Game 2 was a back and forth battle. The 1st and 2nd innings were scoreless. In the top of the 3rd inning B1000 Seminoles (Mac) Maddox Sierra would hit a single. Then Louis Deluca gets hit by the pitch to make it first and second. Nick Ranaudo hit a single to load the bases. Spencer Heltzer would hit an RBI sac fly to make it 1-0. In the bottom of the 3rd inning LIB Costanzo would not score. In the top the 4th inning B1000 Seminoles (Mac) would get base runners on but could not score. In the bottom of the 4th inning LIB Costanzo’s Peyton Stanley would lead off by getting hit by the pitch. The he would steal 2nd base. Michale Duda hit an RBI single to tie the game up at 1-1. Nick Anderson hit an RBI single to make it 2-1. Jack Molesky hit an RBI single to make it 3-1. In the top of the 5th inning B1000 Seminoles were held scoreless. In the bottom of the 5th inning LIB Costanzo’s Ryan Czyz led off with a single. Then he would steal second base. He would move to 3rd base on a ground out to the pitcher. Micheal Mollica would get the run in on a groundout to the pitcher to make it 4-1. In the top of the 6th inning the bases are loaded for B1000 Seminoles (Mac). Marco Diaz would drive in 2 runs on a 2 RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3. Then pinch hitter Jake Lechleitner hit a 2 RBI single to give his team a 5-4 lead. Then in the bottom of the 6th inning LIB Costanzo would get a leadoff walk by James Kass. He would steal second and third. Micheal Duda would hit a game-tying RBI single to make it 5-5. That set the stage for Doug Davies to hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 6th to give his team a 6-5 win over B1000 Seminoles (Mac).
