LI Junior Ducks, Yeti Baseball Split Double Header

The 13u LI Junior Ducks took on the 13u Yeti Baseball at Moriches Complex Wednesday night. Jr. Ducks took game one, 10-3, before Yeti Baseball bounced back in the second game with a 3-2 win. Following the games, coach Tyler Loft had the following to say: “the whole season we been a second game double header team and we talked about it after the game just now and we have to show up earlier for pregame to get our mind set right before the first game to figure it out. I told them that we are better than we showed right there and in the second game we were”.

When discussing the job of the starting pitcher in Game 2, Loft said, “Zach Marsh was unbelievable this game, he ate up innings for most of the summer and he has been different in the fall and he has been unbelievable. He was around 80 pitches with 3 walks, not a lot of hits and we played great in the field behind him tonight”.

In Game 1 it was all the 13u LI Junior Ducks. In the first inning the LI Junior Ducks Chris Thomas got on with a single. Niko Moratis would get the LI Junior Ducks on the board with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Later in the 1st inning Robbie McCoy would make it 3-0 on an RBI single. Dean Miller would add two more runs on an error by the 3rd basemen to make it 6-0. In the 2nd inning Carter White hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 8-0. Niko Moratis grounded out to the 3rd basemen, but a run scored to make it 9-0. In the 3rd inning Yeti Baseball’s Liam Shea would give them their first run of the game on an RBI single to make it 9-1. Then Ruairi Rago made it 9-2 on an RBI ground out to the 3rd basemen. In the bottom of the 4th inning the LI Junior Ducks would get the bases loaded. DJ Steward would walk and bring in a run to make it 10-2. In the top of the 5th inning Yeti’s Luke Thomson would lead off the inning by getting hit by the pitch and stole second and third. Francis Kelly would walk to get runners on first and third. Liam Shea hit an RBI single to make it 10-3. The LI Junior Ducks would hold on the win Game 1 won 10-3

In Game 2 it was a back and forth all game. The first 3 innings were scoreless. In the top of the 4th inning LI Junior Ducks Carter White hit a triple. Niko Moratis would get hit by the pitch to make it first and third. Niko Moratis stole second base. Robbie McCoy would give his team a 2-0 lead on a fielder’s choice and a throwing error by the pitcher. In the bottom of the 5th inning Yetis Francis Kelly would get on by an error by the pitcher. Ruairi Rago got hit by the pitch to make it first and third. Tyler Blasco hit a 2 RBI triple to tie the game at 2-2. LI Junior Ducks would not score in the top of the 6th inning. LI Junior Ducks pitcher would get the first two outs of the inning. Yeti’s James Dileo hit a single. Then he would steal second and third. Luke Thomson hit a game-winning walk-off single!
