Lions Baseball Cruises Past North Shore

The Lions Baseball offense came alive on Wednesday night in a LI Boys of Summer match up. They were able to get offense from their whole lineup.

After the game, Lions Baseball pitcher Alex Czarnomski was asked about the performance of his teammates and he said, “We battled with good at-bats and got a lot of walks and got base runners on and good things will happen”. When asked how he was able to pitch in the middle of the game and shut the other team down, Alex said “I was just trying to throw strikes. My fastball was working and I decided to stay with my fastball. My defense did a good job behind me tonight”.

The North Shore pitcher got the first out of the game but quickly ran into trouble. Bobby Marsh hit a single to get the first hit of the game. Alex Czarnomski walked and Josh Phit hit into a fielder’s choice to bring in the games first run to make it 1-0. The following batter, Tucker Schiavoni hit an RBI single to make it 2-0.

North Shore came to bat in the bottom of the first. The Lions pitcher got the first two outs of the inning. Chris Bartlett walked and then he stole 2nd base. Will Sebetic reached on an error by the 3rd baseman. That would make it 2-1 – but that was as close as they would get. It was all Lions Baseball for the rest of the game.

In the 4th inning, Al Viega would lead off the inning with a single. The next batter would strikeout, but the next 3 batters would all walk to force in a run. Tucker Schiavoni would hit into a fielder’s choice that would make it 5-1. In the 7th inning, Bobby Marsh led off the inning with a single. Tucker Schiavoni hit a 2 RBI double to extend the lead to 7-1. The Lions had a strong 8th inning as well. Jake Donnelly led off with a single. Jack Kory followed with a single. Matt Gordon would walk to get the bases loaded. Pat DiCapua hit an RBI single that made it 8-1. Nolan Walters hit a 2 RBI single to make it 10-1. Al Viega would hit an RBI single to make it 11-1. Four more runs would cross the plate to give Lions Baseball a 15-1 lead. The North Shore Vikings would get a run back in the bottom of the 8th to make it 15-2, but the damage was done.

Lions Baseball dominated the North Shore Vikings 15-2
