RVC Tigers Sweep Double Header

Bombs away at Wantagh County Park! In an 10u East Coast double header match up between the LI Titans and RVC Tigers, it was ALL Tigers all night. Offensively and defensively the Tigers dominated in a couple games that didn’t end up all that close.

Game one went off to an insanely quick start when John Hawthrone stepped up to the dish against Titans starter Troy Coupet and did some damage early. John smoked an opposite field inside-the-park two run home run. That will not be the last time you hear that name in this article. The damage continued to pour on for this Tigers team, in the second inning, similar result, this time Daniel Coffey. Quinn ripped a two-run home run into the left center alley that rolled forever! The Tigers went up 5-1 after two.

On the other side of the game, Derek Fessler got the start for the Tigers and was no short of dominant. Derek managed to shut down the Titans to only one run in his four inning complete game. The reason this game went only four was because the massive fourth inning the Tigers put together. Once again as promised, John Hawthrone, hit another home run. This time a three run shot! He was followed by an Ethan Johnson home run as well, they went back to back! The Tigers took game one, 13-1.

Game 2

Game two was a very similar result. The Tigers threw Ethan Johnson out this time after catching game one. Ethan played an really impressive two games, not only does he have a strong arm, he was a great knowledge for the game.

This game was a whole lot messier for the Titans. Even after going up 1-0 in the top of the first, the Tigers answered with aggressive bases running plating two. Both runs scored on wild pitches. That single lead for the Titans would never be seen again in game two as the Tigers ran away with this one in five innings. Chris Morrissey had a big game including a couple hits, including three RBIs in game two.

Johnson finished the night with a crazy SIX strikeouts and sealed the deal in the fifth. This game was also called due to mercy, this time 10-1 Tigers. In a single sided slugfest, the RVC Tigers complete a big double header sweep over the LI Titans!
