The second game of a double header at Plainedge Park Field 2 featured the 11u Long Island Beast against the Batting 1.000 Seminoles. The game began at 11 AM Sunday morning and quickly there was tie by the end of the first inning. However, Batting 1.000 went off in the top of the second to the tune of 7 runs. They wound winning after four innings of play with a score of 13-2.
They took their first lead early by scoring two runs in the opening inning. Ian Yegides led off with a walk and stole second and third. A pick-off attempt at third base was thrown wide, allowing Yegides to steal home as well. A few batters later, Bryce Howgs hit a ground ball for an RBI of the fielder’s choice play to make it 2-0.
In the bottom half, LI Beast tied it up on a couple of big hits. They too led-off with a walk from Rumore. He stole second and crossed the plate on Ortiz’s RBI double hit to left center field. Ortiz eventually also scored a run on and RBI triple down the right field line hit by Roegge to even it up at 2-2.
Unfortunately, that would be all that LI Beast could get going at the plate. The rest of the game was all Batting 1.000 on offense. They exploded for the aforementioned 7 runs just a few moments later. Matt Longhitano hit a bases loaded 2 RBI single. A pair of runs were scored on two wild pitches. Ryan Moore added three runs with his bases loaded hit, a triple to deep left center field. Finally, Reno Pagiatakis’ RBI single brought their lead to 9-2.
Batting 1.000 later piled on in the top of the fourth inning. Another triple gave Jack Elko an RBI. Another pair of runs scored on back to back wild pitches. Lastly, Ryan Colon hit an RBI single.
The game was called with the final out of the bottom half of the fourth. Final Score: Seminoles 13, LI Beast 2.
