Temperature has dropped and fall ball is underway here on Long Island. Beast Crimson and B1000 both fired up to get on the field and the theme for each team was its new players. Half of the players on each team didn’t play during the summer, so the coaches on both sides were excited to see their new talent in action.
Both teams showed they have the ability to score and it was Beast Crimson getting the party started against pitcher Sean O’Connell. They would get three runners on as two walks and a HBP load the bases in the first. Justin Ortiz would be the one to come up big for Beast. Ortiz gets a big time hit and all three runners score giving Beast Crimson a 3-0 lead after the top of the first.
In the second inning Beast continued to apply pressure as the lead would extend to 4-0 after a passed ball. Bottom of the second gave B1000 an opportunity to get on the board and they did just that. Ryan Moore crushes one and a run comes home, B1000 trims the deficit to just three runs.
In the top of the third Bryce Howes came into pitch for B1000 and the game would change from there. Howes struck out the side once he entered the game and would finish with 7 strikeouts in the contest. In the bottom of the third B1000 would score two runs, boosted by a triple from Reno Pagiatakis and an RBI single from Brady Kelly.
In the top 4th and top 5th inning it was the Bryce Howes show. Having a good mix of pitches, Howes dominated and his defense played well behind him.
In the bottom of the 5th is where the offensive explosion took place for B1000. They would tie up the game at four and then eventually take the lead 5-4 lead after Jaxson Torres got a big RBI single. Sean O’Connell jumped in on the fun as well extending the lead to 7-4. Still in the bottom of the 5th B1000 up 8-4 and this contest would come to an end after Ryan Moore went back to the plate. With the bases loaded Moore crushed one and it resulted in an inside the park grand slam capping off the huge inning and huge comeback.
“Really impressed by what they did and being down quick from a bad first inning it was good to see the character from them bounce back like that” said Coach Okon of B1000 after the big comeback victory his team had.
B1000 comes out on top by the score of 12-4 over Beast Crimson going 1-0 to start off their fall ball season. The second half of this double header takes place at 11:00.
