Town of Brookhaven To Host 2020 Varsity Wood Bat Tournament

After months of bad news followed by more bad news, we finally have something to be excited about.

The Town of Brookhaven will be hosting the 2020 Varsity Wood Bat Tournament from July 8-12 at Moriches Complex. It will provide a positive baseball experience for those that had their seasons cancelled before it even started. The teams will be consisted of the varsity baseball rosters, as opposed to typical tournaments which feature travel organization.

What makes this event even better, is that many of the top programs in Suffolk County have already registered. Try this one on:

  • Connetquot (Reigning Class AA Champs)
  • Sayville (Reigning Class A Champs)
  • Ward Melville (Class AA runner-uo)
  • Longwood (semifinalists)
  • Commack
  • Pat-Med
  • Sachem East
  • Sachem North
  • Hills East
  • Newfield
  • North Babylon
  • Centereach
  • Kings Park
  • Eastport-South Manor
  • Hauppauge
  • Shoreham-Wading River
  • Miller Place
  • Port Jeff
  • Mattituck
  • Islip
  • Hampton Bays
  • East Hampton
  • Southampton
  • Babylon
  • Bellport
  • Pierson

There is a terrific argument to be made that Nassau County should run a concurrent event and that the winners should meet in a best-of-three championship the following weekend. Let’s make that happen!

  1. This sounds like a great idea. Way to go Vincent. Any possibility of the Nassau County Teams Participating and or as you stated, playing for a L I Championship. Any feedback from Nassau County High Schools?

    • Thank you, Christopher. I wish I could take credit but the Town of Brookhaven put it together. I really would like Nassau County to do their own version of this. I can mention it to some people and hopefully they are interested!

I think it would be awesome Vinny. I wish Nassau County would participate. I know the kids would be excited. It is encouraging to see that the respective district’s and their coaching staff’s are all on board. Can TOB, TOH, or, TONH, provide any insight of this coming to fruition?
