Which Restaurants Do Long Island Athletes Miss The Most?

Like most people, I enjoy food. Not being able to dine-in at my favorite restaurants is frustrating. I’m definitely looking forward to once the stay-at-home order is lifted and I can go to Tap Room and The Meetball Place and Ciao Baby’s and Hummus Mediterranean and Brook House Deli the rest of the amazing places we have on Long Island.

So yesterday I put up a simple question on Instagram which asked “which restaurant do you miss the most?” and here’s the responses. Some were asked to explain what they miss about it and here’s what they said.

Tri-State Arsenal

Chris Amato (St. Joseph’s) – Avocado’s

Why: Avocado’s is a small Mexican American takeout restaurant located on Lakeland Avenue in Bohemia and has some of the best burritos on Long Island. Being that it’s a hometown spot in Connetquot, I can sometimes be caught ordering their food up to three times per week. My personal favorite is The Favorite John burrito that features chicken, mixed greens, rice, pico, bacon, crushed tortilla chips and ranch dressing mixed with hot sauce. The employees are all extremely welcoming and take great pride in their food.

Steven Kienzle (Sachem North) – Insignia

Why: The service is incredible you never have to worry about that and the food is amazing, if you want the best steak house on Long Island, you go to Insignia.

Jack Layton (Babylon) – Bubba’s Burritos

Why: Bubba’s burrito bar is one of the best places on Long Island. It’s always packed and has great food. My favorite is the ‘guilt trip’ burrito. It has chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries, bacon, shredded cheese and it’s topped with baja sauce. It is so good. Best place to go after a Friday night game.

Shaun Kaminski (SUNY Old Westbury)Patrizia’s Massapequa

Why: Family style restaurant, awesome Italian food and an overall great environment.

Matt Tempone (University of Rhode Island) – Ciro’s Hauppauge

Why: Ciro’s is the best pizza on Long Island. Not only is the pizza great, but the staff is even better. They know everyone’s name, including my entire family. They are some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet.

Frank Ennis (former Farmingdale State College) – La Nonna Bella

Why: The friendliest waitstaff and chef. Authentic Italian from chef Lino right out of Italy. Homemade gelato is ridiculous. Just all-around awesome food and place.
