OTD: Five-Run Fourth Inning Propels Sachem North to 6-4 Win

As a senior on a young team, Connor Pietrowski knows his role is important as the ace and stopper of the team. He came up big today with five innings in Sachem North‘s 6-4 victory in a League II showdown against Bay Shore at Bethpage Ballpark.

Joshuel Rodriguez countered him for Bay Shore and both pitchers were sharp through three innings, as the game was scoreless.

The Marauders got on the board in the top of the fourth on two wild pitches to take a 2-0 lead, but the Arrows answered back with a huge fifth inning.

Matt Ingraffia started things up with a lead off walk and advanced to third on a double by Dylan Kelly. They scored on an E6 for their first run. After a strikeout, Jake Pierre tied the game with an opposite field RBI single to left. The following batter, Freddy Forgione, lined a single just inside the third base line which scored the go-ahead run and Steve Kienzle smoked a two-run double to give them a 5-2 lead.

Tommy Secaira came on in relief and escaped the jam with an infield pop out and a ground out to second base.

Bay Shore did not go down without a fight, they posted two runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Coltrane Calloway and a ground out to second off the bat of Matt Rouleau to get within one run.

Tyler Kohn came on in relief an fired a scoreless sixth inning working around a single by Jaison Andujar, who also stole second base. Andujar was the subject of much attention today, with several MLB scouts in attendance to watch the sweet-swinging lefty center fielder.

A sac fly off the bat of Ingraffia in the sixth inning gave the Arrows an insurance run to work with, but it wasn’t needed as Kohn went out and fired a scoreless seventh inning, with the help of a great relay at third that nailed Calloway as he attempted to stretch a double into a triple.

With the victory, they improve to 5-4 on the season, they will be back in action on Monday with a crucial three-game series against red-hot Commack.
