Boston College-commit Cameron Leary has found a new home.
The St. Anthony’s outfielder that was entering his senior year has transferred to P27 Academy in Lexington, South Carolina, according to his father. Classes began today, which means the switch is official.
If you have never heard of the academy, you are not alone. There is very minimal information available online about the academy, but here’s what it says on their website.
“Located in the heart of South Carolina, P27 Performance Center is the premiere student-athletics development program, targeted at students from across the country. The goal of of P27 is to provide students the very best in skills and developmental programming, designed by the P27 cadre of season professionals in all facets of baseball and tennis. P27 also hold education in the highest regard, to that end, academics play a primary role and requirement participation in the program.
P27 was created by former professional baseball player and Lexington, South Carolina native Corey Warner. Warner, who also owns and operations Bodyshop Athletics, has made a lifelong commitment to not only fitness, but education and youth development, as well as understanding and instilling a strong understanding of faith and community service.”
P27″ is the abbreviation for Proverbs Chapter 27 Verse 17: As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
Make no mistake, Leary is one of the best bats in the northeast. He has an advanced approach and is one of the most pro-ready bats on Long Island. His presence at the top of the Friars lineup was one of the main reasons they were able to reach the CHSAA Finals in the first year under Head Coach Paul Parsolano. His skills translate favorable at the next level, especially since he has played the last three seasons using a wood bat.
