On a stifling hot afternoon at Mitchel Field, Joe Morreale brought some heat of his own.
The rising senior at Seaford HS was lights out–firing a four hit shutout with 10 punch outs to deliver the South Shore Elite to a championship title of the annual Brian Moore Memorial Tournament. Not only was he nearly unhittable but he was extremely economical in this game–never allowing a runner into scoring position.

They got on the board in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double by Ryan Carroll which scored Kyle Schmitt. It was Carroll once again in the bottom of the third who ripped an RBI single to score Morreale to make it 2-0.
That was all the offense he would need on this day, but he was not satisfied. Morreale drove in an insurance run with an RBI ground out in the bottom of the fourth and his RBI triple in the sixth inning scored Matt Klass to open up a 4-0 lead.
He did his best work in the later innings, striking out two in the seventh inning in a 1-2-3 frame to ensure that the Diamond Spikes could not get the tying run to the plate.
