After their first two batters were retired back-to -back, Team Steel was starting to move their focus onto preserving this tie game to the next inning. Then all of a sudden consecutive singles by Ryan Lane and Matt Farone gave the Steel dugout some life. The team now realized that the go ahead run was standing only 75 feet away from home plate and that now was their chance to take the lead. The next batter, Nolan Comerford dropped a perfectly placed bloop single in between the centerfielder and shortstop which gave Steel 8-7 go ahead lead.
