Two solid teams squared off on Father’s Day in a 16U Boys of Summer league matchup at Longwood High School. With the game deadlocked, 3-3, in the sixth inning it was Siddharth Montravadi who came through with a big RBI single through the left side to propel the LI Titans to a 4-3 victory.
Montravadi had a terrific game, he also broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a two-run double to deep left field to score the runners from first and second.
The rising junior at Plainview-JFK spoke about the importance of being aggressive.
“The past couple games we haven’t been as aggressive as we should be and in this game, we ended up being as aggressive as possible,” he said.
After his two-run hit, they added another run on an RBI single by Tom Walsh to make it 3-0 but the LI Strong would not go down without a fight.
They tied it up in the fifth inning on a two-run single by Johnny Moore off starter Anthony Albertsen, who had worked out of trouble in the first four innings.
The Titans offense did not waste any time re-taking the lead in the sixth though, as the first two batters go on base for the big right-handed slugger who ripped the go-ahead RBI single.
Anthony Bettano came on in relief of Albertsen to record the six-out save and seal the deal on a 4-3 victory.

A couple other notes from the game that stood out:
-Titans catcher Ethan Edmunson threw out two runners, including one from his knees, showing that he will be a force behind the plate for the next two years.
-LI Strong third-place hitter Tucker Genovesi stole two bases and played an all-around terrific game.
-Titans third base man Joan Rodriguez played a flawless third base showcasing a missile of a throwing arm across the diamond.
The two teams squared off in Game 2 of the DH directly after and they played two a tie in eight innings.
