Forever 9 Field was the site of the first game of a Father’s Day double header at Norman J Levy Lakeside School.
The 11u game featured the Batting 1.000 Seminoles and the Islip Owls. The Seminoles, behind Matty Tolipano’s bat and the arms of Braydon Seligman and Derek Yormack, dominated in a 6-0 victory.
It didn’t take long for Batting 1.000 to gain the lead, as they scored half of their runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Timmy Lynch led off with a walk and was pushed over to 2nd base on Seligman’s single to center field. Tolipano then brought them both home on his first hit of the game, a two run double to right field. He then scored his first run of the game when Ryan Yormack had his own RBI double to make it 3-0 Seminoles.
They scored another two runs in the bottom of the second when Seligman and Tolipano again entered the batter’s box. They started a two out rally by hitting two singles to right-center field and down the third base line, respectively. This was followed by both Yormack twins getting hit by a pitch to bring in one run and load the bases twice. Brandon Bayer worked a walk which brought the score to 5-0.

The final run of the game occurred in the bottom of the fourth. With Tolipano once again up to bat, he hit a solo home run that cleared the left-center field wall by about 10 feet. The blast was one of the last hits of the day. Despite this, it was not the final exclamation point for Batting 1.000. As alluded to, the Seminoles were also successful on the mound, where Seligman and D. Yormack combined to shutout Islip. Seligman, who started the game, threw the first 5 innings and only allowed two walks and two hits, each infield singles from Matt Waters and Dylan Casani, along with four strikeouts. Yormack came into the top of the sixth inning for the save and retired the first three batters he faced. He forced a groundout, lineout, and another groundout to put the Owls away.
Tolipano’s big day at the plate, Seligman’s inspiring two-way success, and D. Yormack’s save were the biggest contributions to the Seminoles win. Final Score: Batting 1.000 6, Islip 0.
