Sean Johnson and the B1000 Seminoles Score Six In The Third To Stop LIB Enriq Scout 6-3

by Lou Accumanno

Being down three runs in the bottom of the third wasn’t an issue, as the B1000 Seminoles-Ferr scored six runs to put away the LIB Enriq, 6-3, at Mitchell Field.

Tim Migliaro was on the mound for the Seminoles who had struggled early in the game.  The defense of this Seminoles squad allowed three runs to score in the first two innings that put them in a hole down 3-0.

In the bottom of the third inning, pitcher for LIB Enriq, Owen Rose was in a jam himself with bases loaded and no one out. Sean Johnson for the Seminoles stepped up to the plate and smacked the ball down the first base line and sent home three runners to tie the ball game up 3-3.

Sean Johnson said, “I had to stay calm, not to be overanxious with those runners on base and no outs. My hit got the team amped up a little bit and it followed in the inning.”

The inning had continued for the Seminoles as batters got their swings in. Eric Hensley singled off and sent Johnson home which gave them the lead 4-3. The Seminoles with the offensive energy pulled the trigger again in the inning as Ricky Russo sent two home with a double that put the Seminoles up 6-3.

The LIB Enriq squad tried to come back in the fourth inning as they had bases loaded, but they failed to score and put themselves in an offensive slump.

Migliaro finally found his throw in the fifth as he struck out the side and kept the lead for his ball team. The defense was locked in after the fifth inning as no one else was able to get on base for LIB Enriq for the rest of the game.

Migliaro was relieved in the sixth as Dov Ginzburg had the ball and finished up where Migliaro left off. Ginzburg kept up the heat on the mound and struck out five batters in the game.

Coach CJ Ferriggi of the B1000 Seminoles team said, “I preach to the guys, pitch to contact and keep the energy going through the game.”

The Seminoles came into the game today with two loses on their record this season, but it didn’t phase them as they secured the victory.

Ferriggi said “Based on the way we played in our last two games, this game was good for us, but we have a lot to learn still and we look to carry this into the Perfect Game Tournament this Saturday.”

The B1000 Seminoles Ferr 17U Division team achieved their first victory of the season today and look to keep the wins coming this weekend during the Perfect Game Tournament as they sit on a 1-2 record.
