Division is headed back to the County Championship for the second year in a row!

It took 14 innings and 3.5 hours, but the Division Blue Dragons are headed back to the County Championship. In the longest postseason game of 2019, they came out on top over Bethpage by a score of 5-1.
Throughout this ballgame, it was truly a “game of inches.”
In the bottom of the 7th inning, Bethpage trailed by one run. This was where the fun began.
Bethpage tied the game at 1-1, with the game winning run on 3rd with one out. On an infield ground ball. Ryan Spreckles slapped down the tag on what would’ve been the winning run at home, keeping the game tied. This forced endless extra innings.
To begin the 8th inning, Myles Scarry took the mound for Division. Over the course of extra innings, he was fantastic. Not only did he escape several jams, but he only allowed four hits along the way.
Division had a chance to take the lead in the top of the 12th inning, but Pete Schimmel came up firing from center field, throwing out the go-ahead run at home to end the half inning.
Judging by the amount of runners that were left in scoring position, it seemed as if this game was never going to end.
Then came the 14th inning.
With the bases loaded and one out, Robert Bradley delivered the go-ahead RBI, putting Division in front 2-1. This set the table for Joe Natale and Nick Roselli,who both delivered back-to-back RBI singles. When the half inning was over, Division led 5-1.
This was all the run support they needed and more, as Division were the ones dog piling at the conclusion of the game.
With the victory, Division is headed back to the Class A County Championship for the second year in a row. They will face the winner of MacArthur and Clarke beginning next Friday.
