Division Blanks Seaford 9-0, Clinches Semifinals Berth

Once again, the Division Blue Dragons are headed back to the semifinals. On Monday afternoon, Division dominated Seaford, shutting them out 9-0.

From the beginning of this game, it was never really close.

The Division lineup wasted no time getting to the Seaford pitching staff on the mound, as Matt Cavanagh, Colin Diez and Hunter Traenkle all ripped singles to begin the bottom of the 1st. This gave them an early 2-0 lead.

The entire Division lineup continued to display their hot bats as the game went on. Mike Sullivan, Hunter Traenkle and Joe Natale combined for seven RBI.

Once again, Colin Diez showed why he’s one of the best all-around players in the county. On the mound, he held the Seaford lineup to three hits throughout the game, surrendering one walk and striking out 11.

”This was a big win for us, we knew we were in the drivers seat from the beginning and they gave me a two-run cushion early and ever since then I knew I was in the zone. I started a little wild, but I settled down. At the plate I’ve been doing what I’ve been doing all season felt poised stay relaxed,” said Diez. “We’re hyped going into the semifinals it’s one step closer to our goal which is the county finals and we’re almost there, it was a great team effort from everyone 1-9 and we’re looking forward to later on this week,” he added.

If they continue to dominate teams like they’ve been doing all season, there’s no reason why Division shouldn’t be considered the favorites moving forward. It’s still anybody’s title to win, but Division seems to be the most complete team.

With the loss, Seaford has been eliminated from the postseason. Division awaits their opponent in the semifinals, as their starters will have extra rest. Expect the strong rotation consisting of Robert Bradley, Jake Lombardi and Colin Diez to be ready.
