Seminoles Cruise to 9-4 Victory

by Nick Frigerio

Friday night was a hard fought battle between the 11u Batting 1.000 Seminoles and the 11u LI Thunder. Right from the start you knew both teams were fired up. As both coaches had their teams clapping to hear their lineups and had their teams energetic while doing their pre-game routines.

As the game got underway, Colin Driscoll was the starting pitcher for the Seminoles. It did not take long for the LI Thunder to strike first, as Brady Kelly got them going in the top half of the first with a 1 out single. Followed by another single by Michael Colin. Clean up hitter Ryan Jazylo connected with a RBI single to drive in Brady Kelly, to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead. That wasn’t all for the Thunder as they rally early to drive in another three runs in the top half of the first, off the bat off Christian Flaim with a double that drove in two runs and off the bat of Bobby Wescott who had an RBI single. It did not take long for the Seminoles to answer back. After a leadoff strike out, the Seminoles then got  the next three batters aboard all coming from walks. All three of the runners would soon come to score by RBI’s from Colin Driscoll and Lucas Rodgers, as the score was 4-3 at the end of one. As the game went on the Thunder took control of the game, as they kept chipping away while holding the Seminoles to to only one more run throughout the rest of the contest. The Thunder erupted in the top of the third as 5 runs came across to score. That’s all the Thunder needed to score as starting pitcher Christian Flaim threw a four inning, seven strikeout performance to help his team top of the Seminoles with a commanding 9-4 victory. Thunder head coach, Coach Gaghan then talked about his team and their performance. “ We pitched well, we played defense and had some timely hitting, and that’s how we play. I’m very proud of my group, they played tough.

Both teams look on to battle more as they play in the East Coast spring league for the reminder of the spring season.
