Plainview Blanks Port Washington 3-0 Behind Tyler Galletti’s 3-Run HR

On a beautiful Monday afternoon, Plainview made quick work of Port Washington as they triumphed to a 3-0 victory. In total, this game lasted just 90 minutes.

From the very first pitch of the game, it was evident this was going to be a pitcher’s duel. Ziv Gar took the mound for Plainview in the season opener and Derek Livingston got the start for Port Washington.

Through the first three innings, both pitchers dominated their first time through the lineup. There were zeroes across the board in the runs and hits columns heading into the fourth.

With runners on first and second with one out, Tyler Galletti stepped up to the plate. On the second pitch of the at bat, he saw a breaking ball that caught a little too much of the plate and took advantage of it. He launched a three-run bomb to left center, giving his team the lead. The three runs was all Plainview needed.

“In my at-bat Michael Rothstein and Ethan Schorr got on base and I was just looking for a fastball to drive and I didn’t get it the first pitch but then I got a hanging curveball and my teammates helped me through the at bat,” said Galletti. “It feels great to win the first game of the season,” he added.

After the three-run bomb, Ziv Gar continued to display his dominance on the mound as Port Washington simply couldn’t get anything going offensively against the Plainview ace.

“His home run was an amazing feeling, finally taking the lead after a good game in the first win of the season, we lost a lot of seniors last year and it felt good to come out and pick up the first dub,” said Gar.

Although Plainview lost previous diamond award Mark Faello last year, Ziv Gar showed he’s more than ready to step into the ace role this season. Not only does he possess a lively fastball, but he has a knee buckling breaking ball. Gar went the distance allowing only two hits, no earned runs and five punch outs.

“I had my command since the first inning, I didn’t throw too many pitches throughout the entire game I had a good defense behind me and everything was going well all game,” said Gar.

With the win, Plainview improves to 1-0 in conference play, while Port Washington falls to 0-1. They play game two of their three game series tomorrow at Port Washington High School.
