LIU Post has been on fire offensively lately. Coming into this game they were on a seven-game win streak, where they scored an almost unthinkable 121 runs. While the offense has certainly carried the team as of late, starting pitcher, Josh Loeschorn, wanted to remind everyone that the pitching isn’t lacking either, as he went to 4-0 on the season after today’s complete game performance. The win gave LIU Post a four-game sweep over St. Thomas Aquinas.
Loeschorn was dominant all game. He carried a no-hit bid into the 5th inning. That same inning, he allowed his only run, but only after a balk brought the runner in from third. That was the only run all day and one of only four base runners as well.
The bats were quiet for Post, at least for their standards, only scoring three runs on the day. St. Thomas starter, Thomas Gregory was very effective as well, going 7.1 innings and giving up three runs (two earned). The first came in the second, when Andy Camilo would score after multiple passed balls. Zach Fritz and Dave Brehm would each tack on RBI singles in the 4th and 5th respectively, giving all the run support needed for the day.
The sweep gives Post an eight-game winning streak and brings their record to 17-9 (8-0 in conference). The loss brings St. Thomas Aquinas to 9-17 (1-7 in conference).
