Today was a scout’s dream, as every one of the top pitchers on Long Island were in one spot, throwing to a catcher.
During a season, seeing all of these arms would probably take a full season but thanks to the loaded roster of the HDMH Titans, this was all possible today. The Mets, Phillies, Yankees, Tigers and Phillies were in attendance,
Here’s a breakdown of them in the order they threw:
David Falco, RHP, Center Moriches (Maryland-commit)
Maryland-commit David Falco (Center Moriches 2019). Will transition to starting rotation after being closer for State Championship winning team last year. Fastball touched 94 last season, sat 89-92 MPH pic.twitter.com/z3b5ttT7Zo

Falco is well-built at 6’4 220 lbs. It is likely he has the highest average fastball of the group. He was 90-92 MPH today, which is a meaningless bullpen in February so you can assume that during the season once he gets ramped up he will consistently be in the 92-93 MPH range. He also has a sharp slider. As I wrote last week, the test is how he transitions to the starting rotation at Center Moriches. Unlike the other pitchers, this is his first season as a full-time starting pitcher so his stamina and sustained velocity will be a challenge. If he can prove that, he is very likely to get drafted. The arm swing is interesting. I think it adds to his deception that he hides the ball well and that it’s unique but I also worry a little that it puts increased stress on his shoulder muscles. The biggest takeaway, though, is that he’s a high school senior with an incredible pitcher’s build that is sitting 90-92 in February. That obviously does not grow on trees.
Joey Savino, RHP, Connetquot (Elon-commit)

If I absolutely had to bet, I think that Savino has the highest ceiling of the group. He just does too many things correct and he has such good command of his fastball and slider. Speaking with the Connetquot coach today, he was gushing about Savino, stating that most kids in his situation (full college scholarship, reigning Axcess League MVP, senior) would be full of themselves but he is the consummate professional and a terrific teammate.
Roman Dorosh, RHP, Sachem East (Jacksonville-commit)

Dorosh is a fierce competitor that is the type of pitcher you want to give the ball to in the biggest spots. Standing 6’0″ 185 lbs, he certainly is able to maximize what he has. His fastball was 86-88 MPH today, but he has regularly been in the low 90s and can touch 94. Like the others, he has terrific fastball command but also has the best slider of the bunch. It is death on righties. He’s an early favorite for the Yaz Award, considering how he handles the bat.
Logan Koester, RHP, Chaminade (George Washington-commit)

Koester is the one pitcher in this group that I believe has ascended the quickest. He has really elevated himself over the past 6 months by adding velocity, refining his command and delivery. He is 6’4 195 lbs, perfect pitcher’s build. He will add velocity because it’s pretty clear he can still physically mature more and add muscle to his lower body. He has great body control, and a great arm action. He was 85-87 MPH but touched 91 this summer and has some great vertical depth on his changeup. If he’s not drafted this year, I think he will in 3 years when he’s 93-94 MPH.
Doug Goodwin, RHP, Smithtown East (Binghamton-commit)

Goodwin has the best fastball command of the group, he doesn’t just throw strikes but pounds the lower third of the strike zone and looks like he can do it in his sleep with how easy he makes it look. Also has repeatable delivery and throws a change up and slider for strikes. He is only 5’11 215 lbs, but that should not dictate his future. I don’t see him losing any games this season.
Jason Diaz, RHP, Kellenberg (Miami-commit)
Diaz did not throw off the mound, he has yet to this offseason but his fastball is no secret. He also has a good chance to get drafted this year.
