Jake Griffin Fires No-Hitter to Clinch Super 25 Northeast Championship

It’s hard enough to perform at full strength as an athlete in competition. After all, your opposition has a job too.

It makes it even more impressive, then, when an athlete is able to overcome an illness and their opposition at the same time–which is precisely what Jake Griffin (Kingston, PA) did last night in the championship of Perfect Game’s Super 25 Northeast Championship in Staten Island.

The 14-year-old fired a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 9-1 victory for Team Beast United over the Diamond Jacks. The young hustler hit 84 MPH with his fastball, mixing in a sharp breaking ball, which proved to be too much for opposing batters.

His offense provided plenty of support, too.

Max Effort Training

They broke through with four runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by RBI singles by Dylan Schnitzer and Steven Mazza. Joseph Paulino added three hits in three at bats and Griffin helped himself with two hits.

In the previous game, Michael O’Shaunessey fired a two-hit gem to reach the finals.

It was an all-around team effort. Here is the players included in the above photo:
