With the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers capturing the Game 163 tie-breakers, the 2018 MLB Postseason is officially set. It will begin on Tuesday with the NL Wild Card match up between the Chicago Cubs and the visiting Colorado Rockies. The winner will face the Brewers on Friday in Milwaukee.
The Yankees will host the surprising Oakland Athletics in a win-or-go-home with the winner taking on the 108-win Boston Red Sox on Friday.
We took to Instagram to capture predictions of the local ballplayers. Below are some of their responses.
Richie Cimpric- Cleveland Indians
“They have the energy plus they have one of the best infields with Donaldson, Lindor, Ramirez and Encarnacion.”
Dom Camera-Boston Red Sox
“The Red Sox are way too stacked with offense this year and their pitching is great, but I’m hoping the Yankees beat them.”
Julian Saltzman-New York Yankees
“I just feel that they were going to beat up the Athletics and continue their hot streak against the Red Sox and just ride the momentum.”
Ryan Carragher-Boston Red Sox
“I think because their good batting averages and great record.”
Nick Vitale-Chicago Cubs
“Think it’s going to be tough for any team to get past their pitching and they’re going to provide a lot of offense.”
Steven Sclafani-Boston Red Sox
“Two MVP candidates on one team is too hot to stop.”
Jimmy O’Boyle-Houston Astros
“Their starting pitching is way too good and they’ve already been through it once. The Red Sox choke every year and the Yankees pitching isn’t that great.”
Dylan Johnson-Boston Red Sox
“That offense and the way they play. The hard-nose team they are doesn’t compare to the rest. Mookie and J.D. can easily carry them to the promise land. Only thing to worry about is the ‘pen and Chris Sale and David Price. The bats will take care of themselves.”
Justin Rosner- Houston Astros
“They have the best pitching staff.”
