As the Brian Moore Memorial Tournament continued, LIB Prime continued their winning ways as they defeated the Farmingdale Greendogs 8-0 in five innings, improving to 2-0 in the tournament.
LIB Prime wasted no time in putting early runs on the board. In the first inning, leadoff man Paulie DePaulis reached base safely to start the game and two batters later Nick Dagnello drove him in to give Prime the quick 1-0 advantage. Two batters later Dominick Notarstefano drove in Dagnello with an opposite field triple adding to Prime’s lead. James Muscat followed with a single to drive in Notarstefano and give Prime the 3-0 lead after the first inning.
After strong defense in the top half of the second, Prime bats came out swinging again in the bottom half. After a two-out double from DePaulis, a miscue in the field led to him coming around to score adding once again to Prime’s lead.
As the fourth inning came around, Prime batter were able to work out three walks with one out. Dagnello came to the plate with bases loaded and delivered the dagger when he laced a double into the gap bringing home all three runners and increasing Prime’s lead to seven.
In the following inning, Prime only needed one run to enforce the mercy rule. James Ecock led the inning off with a double. He then managed to get to third base after a wild pitch and that allowed Kyle Pellegrino to ground a ball to the second basemen and drive in Ecock with the eighth and final run.
LIB Prime starting pitcher James Ecock pitched all five innings for the club and he only allowed two hits while striking out six batters.
On the other side,a bright spot for the Greendogs was Tyler DiBlasi who recorded two of the teams three hits. The third hit came off the bat of Anthony Laietta in the second inning.
Although it was not the result that the Greendogs wanted, they will have the chance to get right back in the win column tomorrow as they will play two more games.
As for LIB Prime, they will take their 2-0 tournament record into tomorrow as they will have only one game.
