Sean Kennedy, Titans’ Bats Stay Red Hot in 10-1 Victory

The Long Island Titans improved to 6-0 in the Boys of Summer 16U Scout Division, scoring at least 10 for the third successive game in a 10-1 victory over the B1000 Seminoles.

After a scoreless top of the 1st thrown by the Titans starter Sanchese, the leadoff man in the bottom of the first manufactured a run. C.J. Cumbo singled, stole second, got to third on a groundout, and scored on a wild pitch.

Later in the same frame, after a walk and a hit batter, Sean Kennedy drove one into the alley in left center that would plate a pair. Kennedy, who was at third, scored on a sacrifice fly.

“I jumped on the fastball today,” Kennedy said. “I took an aggressive approach and the kid was a little wild but when he settled down we jumped on the fastball, had some good at-bats and scored some runs.

After allowing one out double in the top of the 1st, Sarchese would allow just three hits in 3.2 total innings and never allowed a Seminole baserunner to reach third base.

The Titans would tack three more on in the bottom of the 2nd, courtesy of a bases loaded, two RBI single from Giancarlo Gioccometti followed by a RBI double from Robbie Manetta.

With the Titans still threatening Jarkow, the new Seminole pitcher got Kennedy to ground into a 5-3-2 double play, but Long Island still lead 7-0 after two.

Jarkow would hold the Titans scoreless in the third, but that was not the case in the fourth. Two singles and a double would plate three more, but the inning would end with another double play, this time the right-fielder throwing out a runner trying to score.

Kennedy would relieve Sanchese and toss 2.1 innings and would concede one run, and it came in the top of the 5th. The Seminoles would get their lone run via a bases loaded hit batsmen.

“I was a little wild,” Kennedy said. “But I was able to settle down and get quick outs. I stayed consistent and that was pretty much it.”
