With a week of not many surprises in Class AA, let’s take a look at the top 5 teams.
5. Farmingdale (7-2) (Last Week: Unranked)
Although the Dalers have had several nail biters thus far, at the end of the day, they’re 7-2. Pitching has helped Farmingdale get to where they are right now, specifically Adelphi-commit Nic Luc and freshman Justin Rosner. Farmingdale will match up against Oceanside in a highly-anticipated series.
4. Calhoun (6-3) (Last Week: 4)
After sweeping Herricks in convincing fashion, Calhoun has solidified their spot in the top 5. Led by Jack Pugliano offensively, the Colts always seem to string together hits at the right time and work themselves into great hitters counts. For that reason alone they are a team to be on the lookout for. Calhoun will face the defending county champion East Meadow Jets next week in what should be an interesting series to say the least.
3. Oceanside (5-0-1) (Last Week: 5)
They may be young, but they are very talented. Oceanside is off to a hot start once again as they have won 5 out of their first 6 games. After sweeping Freeport and throwing a no-hitter courtesy of Matt Carey last week, the Sailors have a ton of momentum carrying into next week. They will face the 7-2 Farmingdale Dalers.
2. Massapequa (5-0) (Last Week: 2)
Coming off of a bye week, Massapequa has their starting rotation ready to go. Dom Kriegel and Dan Gdanski will look to continue to dominate next week against Hicksville. Expect the Chiefs to remain undefeated after this series is said and done.
1. Plainview JFK (6-0) (Last Week: 1)
The Hawks have impressed once again, defeating Calhoun to complete the three-game sweep. Not only did they improve to 6-0, but they got through their 2 toughest series’ of the year without losing a game. Not to mention they have one of the best players in the county, Mark Faello. Plainview aims for their 3rd consecutive sweep next week against Herricks.
