Player Name: Andrew Misiaszek
Position: LHP
School: South Side ’15, Northeastern ’19
Andrew is a LHP that is coming off a phenomenal season. He is tall and thin and projects to add more velocity in the future as he fills out. He has a very clean delivery.
From the stretch, he takes a slight step back towards third base as he prepares to begin his delivery. As he gets to his balance point he looks down at his feet as a timing mechanism but he picks up his target immediately after. His leg kick is shoulder height and his front toe is bent down with his back leg firm. His arm circle is long and he points it down towards left field. His stride is sufficient and his arm angle is high 3/4, He lands on line with home plate and he reaches out towards home and gets great finish.
His delivery is reminiscent of Jon Niese.
In his outing in the All Star Game, he was slated to pitch one inning but was sent back out for a second inning because of his low pitch count.
He worked mainly in the 84-86 MPH range with the fastball and 74 with the curve and 75 with the change.
The first batter reached on an infield single that was after a fastball and curve that were taken for strikes. The following batter watched an 87 MPH fastball for strike one before flying out to center on a 75 MPH change. The third batter watched a fastball for strike one, a swinging curve for strike two, fouled off a curve, watched an 86 MPH fastball outside, fouled off a curve before popping out to second on a 76 MPH curve. The following batter watched a 73 MPH change outside before flying out to right on a well struck ball that was an 86 MPH fastball down the middle.
In his second inning, he got ahead 0-1 on a fastball an then induced a 5-3 on a curve. The following batter flew out to right field on a 2-1 fastball. The following batter had a great at bat. The sequence went–81 MPH changeup (ball 1), 87 MPH fastball (strike 1 swinging), 74 MPH curveball (ball 2), 86 MPH fastball (strike two looking), 1b to CF on 74 MPH curve.
He ended the inning on a popup to the catcher on an 0-2 fastball after two curves.
He has very good stuff for a lefty. He works with very quick tempo and has a penchant for throwing strikes.
