Hofstra‘s bats came to life in their 11-4 victory over St. Peter‘s in Jaroschak Field in N.J. this afternoon.
Brad Witkowski hit his second and third home runs of the season. They also got a HR from freshman Vito Friscia, who now has two on the season. David Leiderman and Mat Annunziata also had two hits apiece.
They opened up the scoring in the second inning when Kevin O’Connor walked to score Teddy Cillis. Annunziata cleared the bases with a double to make it 4-0.
Friscia’s homer in the third increased the lead to 5-1. Annunizata hit an RBI single to score Steven Foster. Witkowski’s two-run blast made it 8-3.
Witkowski’s second HR in the sixth inning made it 9-3 and they added two in the eighth on Chris Hardardt‘s two-run single to center.
The Pride used six pitchers to navigate to their eighth victory of the season. Cillis was awarded with the victory, despite throwing two innings. Chris Bonk (2 IP), Andrew Mundy (1.2 IP) and Alec Eisenberg (1 IP) threw shutout ball.
They now have 20 HRs on the season. They will be back in action on Friday when they host the University of Delaware for a three-game set.
