Dowling’s bats woke up in today’s matinee against Dominican College, winning by the score of 10-7.
Dwayne Page, Timmy Going and Tyler Piccolo all had three hits for the Golden Lions who equaled the scoring output of their past six (!) games in this one.
Chris Cepeda got the start for the Golden Lions. After allowing a first inning run on an RBI double, his offense backed him with a two-spot in the home half of the first. Robert Morse hit an RBI single and Piccolo smacked an RBI double.
In the third, they added a run on Michael Richter‘s RBI single.
Cepeda ran into trouble in the fourth, though.
A two-run double down the left field line tied up the ballgame at 3-3.
This one was far from over. In their half of the fourth, Dowling took a 5-3 lead thanks to an infield single by Going and an error by the starting pitcher on a potential inning-ending double play.
Cepeda settled in and went six innings, allowing four earned runs on nine hits, struck out four and walked one.
The Golden Lions broke it open in the sixth on a two-run triple by Going, and a sac fly to left by Rob Costanzo.
Mike Jeannetti came on in the seventh and was awarded the save, after firing three innings, allowing one ER.
The Golden Lions pounded 15 hits in the game. They improve to 4-11 on the season. They will host Concordia this Saturday in a DH beginning at 12pm as they look to build on today’s victory.
