The past two games, the Molloy Lions have been putting up offensive numbers similar to the Detroit Lions. After today’s 21-9 rout of Lynn University, they have scored 38 runs in two games.
“The players put the work in on a continual basis with Coach Holden and stick with the approach and game plan from game to game,” said Head Coach Joe Fucarino.
They got out to a 7-0 lead in the first innings, thanks in large part to the wildness of Alejandro Caballero, who walked four batters with the bases loaded. He also threw a wild pitch to bring in a run and allowed an RBI single to Deilyn Guzman (5-for-6, 4 runs scored).
Lynn actually tied up the game in the second inning off Kevin Hiss and Sean Gordon.
The Lions broke it open with a six-run fourth inning. Another bases loaded walk, fielder’s choice, another RBI single by Guzman and an RBI double by Anthony Alberghina.
Alberghina also drove in a run in the sixth inning with an RBI ground out and in the seventh with a two-run double. He drove in six runs on the afternoon.
Angelo Navetto added four hits and scored four runs, while Anthony Galanoudis added four RBI and two runs scored. Jack McCarty scored three runs.
Matt Castaneda recorded the win in relief, he fired three shutout innings with four strikeouts.Shawn Klotsche and Lucas Burton added scoreless innings in relief.
With the victory, the Lions are now 10-4, they will close out their Florida trip tomorrow morning at 11am. At this rate, they are looking to play as many games as possible to ride the hot streak.
