Old Westbury Cruises Past Baruch

Old Westbury took care of business today by sweeping a non-conference DH from Baruch College at Baseball Heaven by the scores of 7-1 and 12-0.

In the first game, transfer Danny Aguilo threw six strong innings, allowing one ER while striking out nine batters against two walks for his first win as a Panther.

The offense backed him early and often.

Kevin Lao got the scoring going with a solo home run in the first inning. They added a run in the second inning on an RBI single by Joey Walsh to score Paul Rapoli.

They broke it open with a four-spot in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Mike Cardino, RBI double by Rapoli and RBI singles by Joe Boscia and Louis Sileno.

Nick Dorcean closed the door with a scoreless seventh inning.

The second game was much of the same. Two transfers, Danny D’Onofio and Trey Pizzutello combined on a six-hit shutout.

The offense was led by junior Tommy Zeigen, who went 3-for-3 with four RBI and four runs scored.

Cardino and Dean Sheridan both added two RBI and Joe Russo had two hits and scored two runs.

They will head down to Florida this week for the Gene Rusic Classic in Fort Myers, FL where they will play six games in five days.
