Pat-Med Counting on Fresh Faces to Step In and Contribute

2015 was a great year for Pat-Med, compiling a 16-6 record and winning a playoff game and having numerous players receive accolades.

The only downside to that level of success is that it featured the biggest graduating class of Head Coach Anthony Frascogna’s 15-year coaching tenure.

Some of those players include Div-I recruits such as catcher Matt Codispoti (Albany) and Rich Ciufo (Brown), Div-II players such as Brett Malm (Adelphi), their ace pitcher Andrew Garcia and leadoff extraordinaire Ron Linsalato (Suffolk CC).

Fortunately, for a program like Pat-Med, there are not too many down years. With the way they have raised the bar for excellence–producing players like Marcus Stroman, Chris Phelan and Matt Vogel, they consistently produce tremendous talent.

Next in line could potentially be Brad Malm. The 2017 grad has been getting looks from some top 50 programs. With his combination of size, power, athleticism and ability to play a premium position (shortstop), he is well on his way to have his name in headlines for the next several years.

Another key bat will be Vito Morabito, an 11th grader.

They will also be counting on Dan Codispoti–younger brother of Matt, to play a pivotal role. Frascogna called him the smartest player he’s ever coached which has earned him the nickname “Coach Spoti”. He noted that he calls a good game and he will be in charge of leading a young staff.

Speaking off their staff, it will certainly be a high upside one.

The presumptive game one starter will be lefty Tristan Amone. The 6’3″ southpaw recently committed to Div-I Fairfield. Frascogna noted he does not have much experience at the varsity level but “he’s going to develop.”

Behind him will be Josh Rovner. The big righty committed to Adelphi University and is equipped with an 87 MPH. He will also play first base when he’s not pitching. Another arm is Chris Harbin. Frascogna stated that he had a great summer and he’s looking for him to transition that to the varsity level.

The Raiders will open up the season against Brentwood.

They may not have the experience as they had last year, but with their collection of high-end talent they figure to be in the mix in League-I yet again.
