Hofstra kicks off their 2016 season with a three-game set against No. 4 ranked Texas A & M. We will be bringing you live coverage of the entire series through updates on Twitter, video on Snapchat and post game recaps right here on the site.
The Pride took batting practice this evening at Blue Bell Stadium and here are my thoughts:
-The stadium is astonishing. It cost $30 million to build and opened in 2012. I’ve never seen a college stadium this extravagent. There is a Daktronics scoreboard that is equal to a big league stadium. There is a press box reminscent of Fenway Park. There’s a luxury suite, handicap accessible areas, concession stands everywhere, a playground beyond the right field fence, clubhouse for both teams including an underground gym.
-The offense is scary good. I admit, I did not realize just how much pop this team had. I counted seven different players hitting home runs. That is not just their power bats like Vito Friscio, Ryan Karl, Nick Bottari and Mat Anunziata either. Steven Foster and Tom Archer–two players noted for their speed both easily cleared the 330 ft fence in right field. Coach Russo stated that seven players have exit velocities exceeding 97 MPH–highlighted by Bottari’s absurdly high 104 MPH.
-This weekend will not be easy. A & M placed four players on pre-season All-American lists for a reason. The Pride will be in for a dogfight against an SEC powerhouse this weekend.

Howdy! I’m glad you have enjoyed our ball park so far. Be sure to hit up Northgate while you’re here, mainly the Dixie Chicken. If you want other info about the town let me know! The student section is in the 2nd deck above the visiting dugout, we will heckle (non-stop), and be sure the players know to not take anything we say personal as we try to keep it as good, clean fun!
I hope you enjoy your time here & don’t be a stranger. Immerse yourself in the community and atmosphere…also check out Kyle Field, If you like Olsen, you’ll love Kyle Field. Happy travels and blogging, good luck this weekend!
