Pre-Season Power Rankings

2015 is in the rear view mirror and we are focusing squarely on 2016. Every single team improved their rosters vastly thanks to savvy recruiting.

Below is our pre-season top 10 Power Ranking of the Long Island NCAA-affiliated colleges. This is based on last year’s results, our observations from watching those games as well as their chances of competing for a conference championship in 2016.

The program is right on the cusp of turning a corner. They improved from four wins in 2014 to 14 in ’15. They also will be returning the best power hitter on Long Island in Louis Mele (nine home runs last season) and had an influx of recruits highlighted by Frank Valentino from Suffolk Community College, Brandon Alberto, RHP  from Newfield and Ben Wright, LHP from Briarcliffe. I expect them to build further on last season but at this moment with all the other programs coming off seasons at-or-close-to .500, it would be hard to justify moving them to a different spot on this list.
