Steven Matz entered the building to a huge crowd at his alma mater, Ward Melville High School, to attend his pitching clinic.
There was four stations, each filled with dozens of young players hoping to pick up some wisdom from Long Island’s brightest stars–many of which were donning Matz’ No. 32 uniform.
The local stars were all in attendance to assist Matz in the clinic.
Some players in attendance were A.J. Nunziato (2007 Carl Yastrzemski Award winner), Joe Flynn (2015 League I MVP), Anthony Kay (2013 Paul Gibson Award winner and current member of Team USA), among many others.
Also in attendance was Philadelphia Phillies scout Tom Downey, New York Mets scout Larry Izzo, Dr. Luga Podesta of St Charles Orthopedics (former team physician, Anaheim Angels and LA Dodgers), St. Joseph’s coach Paul Parsolano and former NYIT Head Coach Bob Hirschfield.
The two-day clinic will continue tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. and it will be for players ages 13-17.
If you wish to attend, the door price for registration will be $150.
