The baseball world was shocked when news broke around 1:57 PM that all-world pitcher David Price would be signing with the Boston Red Sox for a seven year deal worth $217 million–the most lucrative deal for a pitcher in history.

The deal generated a tremendous reaction from baseball fans and players–notably Long Islander Marcus Stroman, who grew up admiring Price and was teammates with him this season. Stroman took to Twitter and Instagram to let his feeling be known.

Initially, Stroman was shocked and he simply tweeted “wow”, but later expanded on that initial sentiment.
The two will possibly face each other on April 8 when the Toronto Blue Jays take on the Boston Red Sox in their home opener. That would make for quite the story line.
Here are some of the other reactions from local ballplayers.
Well David Price got a pretty good amount of money.

David Price just doing a tour of the AL East. Don’t worry, he’ll end up in pinstripes, when he’s 38, overpaid and nothing left in the tank
