Legendary baseball player Yogi Berra passed away today at the age of 90. He played 18 of his 19 year career with the New York Yankees. During that time, he won 10 World Series and three MVPs while finishing in second place on two other occasions.
Berra finished with a .285 career batting average with 358 home runs and 1430 RBI. He compiled a career OPS of .830.
Just as famous as Yogi was on the field, he was possibly more famous for his “Yogi-isms”. Among his most notable quotes was “it ain’t over ’til it’s over”, “when you come to a fork in the road, take it,” and “90 percent of the game is half mental.”
Here are some tweets from Long Island and notable baseball players expressing their sadness over the passing of a New York icon.
