Division shutout Bayport Blue-Point 4-0 behind Anthony Papa’s CG 6-hit shutout, capturing the Class A Long Island championship.
They also won the Long Island Championship in 2011.
Later in the day, Connetquot edged MacArthur 3-2 behind a combination of Tim Monti and Travis Bruinsma. The latter recorded the final seven outs and earned his 13th victory of the season–a program record and Long Island high.
Both of the winning teams now advance to the NYS Tournament. Connetquot will play Mamaroneck on Saturday as they look to become the first Long Island Class AA team to win the state tournament since Lindenhurst in 2010.
Here are some of the reactions of the players via Twitter.
