No. 1 ranked Mattituck cruised past Babylon 11-6 to capture a consecutive Suffolk County Class B title.
If someone asked who owns the best record in Suffolk County, it might not be your first guess to say a League 8 school, but they have done just that by improving to 23-1 on the season. Their only loss came on May 5 against this same Babylon team by the score of 3-2.
They got redemption on them on Tuesday with a 7-0 shutout behind Joe Tardif‘s six shutout innings. He struck out seven batters and allowed only two hits.
Tardif also hit a three-run home run which accounted for all the offensive support he would need.
In yesterday’s game, Chris Dwyer went 4-for-4, drove in four runs and smacked a home run and Tardif drove in three more runs. They opened it up with a four-run fourth inning.
They will now advance to the Long Island Championship game on Friday against either Carle Place or Oyster Bay.
