Long Island Native Wins National Championship

Cortland defeated Wisconsin-La Crosse 6-2 to win the 2015 Division-III National Championship for the first time in program history.

They finished the season 45-4.
Lynbrook native and former Farmingdale State pitcher Alex Weingarten was a part of it. He finished the season with a 9-1 record, 2.83 ERA over 60.1 innings.
“Unbelievable!” He said in regards to how it feels. “Honestly such a great experience. Something I’ll never forget,” he added.
Last year Weingarten was named All-Region while compiling a 1.73 ERA over a team-high 57 innings for the Rams. His absence was certainly felt this season when the Panthers failed to win the Skyline Conference for the first time since 2007.
