A lot of publications name an All-American list. But the ABCA is the one that truly matters. Mike Marino, Farmingdale OF, was named to their third team.
“Pretty crazy, honestly,” said the recent graduate from Franklin Square. “If you would’ve told me my freshman year that I’d be All-American, I would have told you that you’re out of your mind,” he added.
Marino played out of his mind all season–he posted a triple slash line of .463/.539/.602 with 50 hits, 26 R, 21 RBI, 26 stolen bases and 10 doubles. He drew 17 walks against only 19 strikeouts.
We wrote a feature on him which you can read here.
The past two seasons, Farmingdale has gotten incredible production from a senior outfielder.
How’s this for a three-year run:
2013: David Zilnicki: .434/.552/.541, 53 H, 44 R, 2 HR, 24 RBI, 29 BB, 18 K, 37-for-41 SB
2014: Edward Bergmann: .421/..503/.532, 53 H, 42 R, 24 RBI, 20 BB, 11 K, 30-for-32 SB
2015: Mike Marino: .463/.539/.602, 50 H, 26 R, 21 RBI, 17 BB, 19 K, 26-for-30 SB
They were all named All-American.
The question becomes; who’s turn is it next year?
