The book is closed on Hofstra’s 2015 season. They finished by losing two of three to James Madison University.
The bright spot of today’s 23-7 loss was Brian MacDonald‘s three hits and Steven Foster‘s 2-for-2 performance with two RBI and two runs scored.
Unfortunately, the pitching staff was not effective–allowing 15 hits and 10 ER. Thirteen of the runs were unearned due to an error by the second baseman in the third inning that opened the flood gates.
On the season, the offense was certainly solid. They batted .274 with a .355 OBP. Foster led the way with a .351 average, .452 OBP, 35 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. Fellow freshman Mat Anunziata smacked five home runs and drove in 28 runs.
They will look to improve on a pitching staff that compiled a 6.93 ERA and walked 4.8 batters per nine.
Fortunately, many of the impact players will be back for 2016 and will look to return the Pride to prominence in the CAA.
