The ECC coaches have announced their All-Conference team and it includes a bevy of familiar names.
From the first team; Dan Parisi, David Groenveld, Jon Cruz, RJ Going, Jake DeCarli, Shea Spitzbarth and P.J. Martino all have Long Island ties.
Parisi was voted Baseball on the Island’s March MVP and has stayed hot–he is the second leading hitter on the Golden Lions, he is currently at .346, with 26 runs scored, 24 RBI, .414 OBP and .446 SLG as the backstop for the No. 1 seed.
Groeneveld was voted Baseball on the Island’s April MVP. He is batting .305 in 95 at bats, He has compiled a .405 OBP with a .421 SLG percentage. He has committed only three errors in the field.
Martino is a 2014 graduate of Patchogue Medford HS. He is a freshman at University of Bridgeport and had an outstanding season. He has compiled a 1.31 ERA over 41 innings in which he has allowed only 23 hits while striking out 28 batters.
The second team features Michael Richter, Kevin Podell, John Galanoudis, Vinny Iacono, Alex Brosnan and Nick Persad from the local programs.
Podell led the Molloy Lions in hitting at .325. He scored 22 runs, drove in 22, drew 10 walks, struck out only 11 times while compiling a .369 OBP.
Galanoudis, whom we wrote a feature on last month, fell off slightly at the end of the season but still finished with a .318 AVG, 30 runs scored, 29 RBI and a .386 OBP.
Iacono led the Pioneers in hitting from day one this season. He finished with a .330 AVG, he scored 16 runs, drove in 16, compiled a .406 OBP and added eight stolen bases.
