Tom Rydzewski Sets Farmingdale State Hits Record in Victory Over Baruch

Tom Rydzewski wasted no time in setting a record four years in the making. With his first inning single on Tuesday, he now has 162 career hits, besting the previous mark by Kevin Curtis (2008-2011).

Farmingdale has had some tremendous hitters in their program history. It is quite an achievement to hold this mark. Rydzewski is a 22-year-old graduate of Carey HS where he was a three-time All League player and has been All-Conference twice at Farmingdale.

The Farmingdale Rams shut out Baruch 6-0 today in a tuneup game for the Skyline Conference playoffs this weekend. Kevin Martinez, Kevin Ernest, Christopher Reilly, David Otero Jr., and Alex Pangouelias combined on the two-hit shutout.

Ernest recorded the victory with two shutout innings, allowing one hit. It was his third victory of the season.

The offense scored all their runs without the benefit of an RBI hit. They took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a wild pitch to score Rydzewski. In the third, Dalton McCarthy hit a sac fly to score Matteo Gaudio and they added runs on a wild pitch and an error.

They improve to 16-14 on the season and will host Stevens tomorow at 3:30 pm.
