It’s always good to be entering the postseason on a hot streak. The Old Westbury Panthers are on fire, having won their eleventh consecutive game today against United States Merchant Marines academy 6-1.
They fell behind 1-0 in the first inning but responded with six unanswered runs over the next eight innings to improve to 22-8.
Dean Sheridan drove in Matt Taurisani with an RBI double in the fifth inning to give the Panthers are 2-1 lead. They never looked back after that.
They compiled 10 hits–Sheridan, Tommy Zeigen and Jacob Coners all had two hits.
Vinny Bieniek recorded the victory with a shutout inning of relief, he is now 2-0 on the season. Nick Dorcean recorded the save with two shutout innings while compiling five strikeouts.
The Panthers will have off until they open the Skyline Conference playoffs Friday against Farmingdale at 4 pm.
