Here’s the recap of Saturday’s games, which featured a 17-strikeout performance, and a trifecta of offensive explosions…

Division-I:

Stony Brook swept a DH from Albany by the scores of 15-3 and 2-1.

In the first game, they smacked 18 hits. Toby Handley went 4-for-6 with three RBI and two runs scored. Casey Baker went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Jack Parenty went 2-for-5 with five RBI

Tyler Honahan recorded his sixth win of the season–he went six innings, allowed two ER and struck out six.

In the second game, Daniel Zamora went five innings, allowing one ER for his fourth win of the season. Cameron Stone tossed two clean innings for his second save of the season.

The offense compiled only three hits–two by Casey Baker who also scored two runs. His home run in the fourth inning was the difference.

The Sea Wolves are now 22-12, including 11-2 in the America East. They will close out their series with Albany tomorrow.

NYIT split with Binghamton. In their 1-0 victory, Matt Diaz threw a seven inning complete game shutout, allowing only three hits while striking out three.

The lone run came in on an RBI single by Louis Mele which scored Joe Daru

The Bears are now 11-21 and will close out their three-game set with Binghamton at noon.

Hofstra dropped a 3-2 match up against Northeastern to fall to 15-24 on the season. They led 1-0 in the first inning on a Brad Witkowski sac fly to score Matt Anunziata, but that was their only lead.

Alec Eisenberg threw well–going six innings allowing two ER but the offense did not back him and he was tagged with his fourth loss of the season.

These two teams will finish their series today at noon.

Division-II:

Adelphi lost to AIC 4-3 to drop to 15-15. They led 1-0 on an RBI single by Donato Signore in the fifth.

T.J Santiago pitched very well–five innings, one ER on six hits but he didn’t factor in the decision. Nick Batas was tagged with the loss, he allowed one ER in 1.1 innings

In the ninth, Signore hit a two-run single to inch the Panthers within one but that was it. John Fogarty and Mike Stack both had two hits.

These two teams will play a DH at 11am.

LIU Post split a DH with Queens College to bring their record to 17-13. In the first game, James Long recorded his first win of the season with a complete game shutout. He scattered four hits while striking out eight. David Groeneveld and Tom Asbaty both had three hits and scored a run for the Pioneers. Asbaty hit an RBI double in the second inning and that was all the support Long would need.

In the second game, the Pionners were three outs away from the sweep but allowed Queens to score three times in the bottom of the seventh and blew the lead. Connor McCarthy threw well but was tagged with the tough-luck complete game loss.

They will complete the series in Brookville at noon.

Molloy thoroughly thrashed Mercy 20-1. Alex Brosnan followed up Shea Spitzbarth‘s 17-strikeout performance with 17 of his own in a complete game victory. He walked none and allowed only five hits.

They compiled 23 hits. They built a 20-0 lead before Mercy scratched across a run in the ninth. Kevin Podell went 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. John Galanoudis went 3-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored. Brian Murphy had three hits and RBI.

The Lions are now 20-19 and will have off until playing Dowling next weekend in a four-game set.

Division-III:

Farmingdale split a DH with Maritime. They lost the opener 4-3 but took the second one 5-3 behind Ryan O’Connor’s fifth win of the season.

Matteo Gaudio had two hits and scored twice and Mike Marino continued his assault on pitchers with two more hits.

The Rams will host Baruch on Tuesday.
